MFRI HIGH SCHOOL CADET PROGRAM:
The high school cadet program provides young first responder hopefuls with the necessary training to become certified Firefighters and EMT’s. This program works in conjunction with county representatives, the local school board, and the MFRI Upper Eastern Shore Regional Training Center. The firefighter training program is offered through the Board of Education and the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute and developed to provide a means of training students in the art of firefighting and emergency medical technology. The purpose of this program is to help increase the ranks of the volunteer fire companies and to provide an educated field of applicants who wish to pursue a career as emergency service providers.When students complete one year of training, they will have completed coursework in:
MFRI Firefighter I
Engine Co/ Truck Co Operations
Emergency Medical Technician- Basic
Hazardous Materials Operations
Rescue Technician
The student will then be qualified for state and national certification at the Firefighter I level.
